A Christian executive does not have to carry the burden alone.

Christian Executive Coaching: You Don’t Have to Lead Alone in This Pressure-Filled Season

Yesterday, during our monthly Christian executive coaching session I was reminded:

Leadership isn’t a solo sport. It’s a shared surrender.

Yesterday, during our monthly Christian executive coaching session with The Executive Counsel, I asked a simple question:

“Where are you stuck, needing support, protection, or encouragement?”

What followed was remarkable. Different voices. Different stories. But the same ache.

“I need to slow down and take a minute.”
“I’m trying to step into more of an Overseer role in my business—but I’m not sure I can take my hands off the wheel.”
“I want to be more present with my family.”
“I’ve got to jump off the treadmill.”
“Surrender is hard.”
“Patience is a challenge—I want to be more patient… right now!”
“I’m learning to let others act as they’re led—without stepping in to fix things.”

These are not the words of burned-out rookies.
These are high-capacity, seasoned leaders—men who have built teams, led organizations, grown businesses. And still… they’re wrestling with presence, patience, pace, and pressure.

Each man spoke vulnerably. And what struck me most was this: none of them knew the others were feeling the same way—until they said it out loud.

That’s the power of safe, courageous community—the kind cultivated in our Christian executive coaching circle.

And it reminded me again of this profound truth:

You are not alone in this leadership moment.

Pressure isolates. But clarity is born when we risk being honest—in the presence of others who get it.

When one man shares, “I’m tired of white-knuckling my way through,” it gives another man permission to exhale. When one leader says, “Surrender feels impossible,” it helps someone else say, “Me too.”

That’s when the pressure begins to lift.

That’s when superhuman strength is replaced with sacred support.

That’s when growth becomes possible.

Why “Counsel” — Not Just “Christian Executive Coaching”?

You’ll notice I often use the term “Executive Counsel” instead of just “coaching.” That’s intentional.

While executive coaching traditionally focuses on performance, tactics, and business growth, executive counsel goes deeper. It’s designed to help Christian men navigate complexity, crisis, and calling—not just optimize outcomes.

Coaching sharpens your performance.
Counsel strengthens your soul.

In our work together, we don’t just tackle surface-level goals. We help you discern what matters most, build emotional and spiritual resilience, and transform obstacles into opportunities for growth.

This isn’t about giving you more to do; it’s about helping you become more rooted, more present, and more free.

I’ve kept “coaching” in the title of this article so the right people can find us. But what we offer is Christian executive counsel: a sacred, strategic space for clarity, transformation, and strength in the storm.

Will They Resist, Or Respond?

As we wrapped up our session yesterday, I found myself wondering:

Will each of these brothers lean into their particular challenge with courage…
or will they jump right back onto the treadmill until we meet again next month?

Will they resist: distract, delay, deny, or will they respond to the Spirit’s invitation?

That question isn’t just for them.
It’s for all of us.

What can you do when you feel resistance rising, especially in the areas of presence, pace, patience, or pressure?

What to Do When You Feel Resistance as a Leader

Here are four small but powerful moves that the men in our Christian executive coaching circle are finding life-giving:

1. Presence → Choose One Face

When you feel scattered or distracted, don’t try to be everywhere at once.

Ask: “Who needs my undivided attention right now?”

Turn toward one person. Make eye contact. Put the phone away. Breathe with them. Listen deeply, even for just five minutes.

2. Pace → Schedule White Space

When you’re racing from meeting to meeting or reacting to every ping…

Block 15 minutes on your calendar as sacred ground—no screen, no multitasking.
Go for a walk. Pray. Reflect. Let silence teach you. A slower pace doesn’t mean you’re falling behind; it means you’re leading from the center.

3. Patience → Shift the Inner Script

When impatience bubbles up—especially with yourself (or others)…

Name the expectation underneath. Ask: “What unrealistic demand am I placing on this moment or this person?”
Then, in the pause, replace it with this prayer:
“God, teach me to trust Your timing more than my own.”

4. Pressure → Invite One Voice In

When the weight feels unbearable…

Name what’s real. Write it down or speak it aloud to someone you trust.
Let someone else shoulder it with you. You don’t need to process pressure in isolation. The moment you invite someone in, the burden starts to shift.

Pause.
Take a breath with me right now.

Inhale: “I am not alone.”
Exhale: “God is with me in this moment.”

Brother, you don’t have to lead alone anymore.

This is the heartbeat of Christian executive coaching inside The Executive Counsel. We are a growing community of Christian men building trust, navigating pressure, and leading with intentionality… together.
